I'll listen to a LOT of client questions, comments and concern but if anyone questions THAT aspect of your delivered photos, they simply have no respect for you as a photographer. Photo composition is the very essence of our job and I simply will not accept criticism for the choices I make or don't make in that regard. To me, if a client is complaining about that, it holds the same weight as "During our formal photos, there was a trash can on the side of the frame but I notice you didn't include it. I could not possibly care less about the idea of portrait vs. The guy is rude, and frankly a little bit of a moron but I’m trying to take notes and see if there is something I can learn from this besides being more selective with the clients I take on. I’m sure this varies from shoot to shoot and it’s an artistic discretionary thing but is there a ratio to follow? For formal photos through the day and detail shots I usually do a portrait and landscape then shoot however I feel the moment dictates outside of those moments where everything is candid and as things are happening. For me I feel like 1/4 to a 1/3 of the photos being in portrait is normal, if not almost more than what’s normal? There were too many pictures in landscape and not portrait.Ībout 1/3 of the pictures were in portrait framing. Is there a certain ratio of landscape to portrait framed photos you deliver?
